How to get to the Isle of Harris

You can fly to Stornoway Airport in just forty five minutes from Glasgow International Airport, but if you fancy island hopping take a trip through Skye and arrive by ferry in Tarbert. If you decide to drive, either coming via Skye, or Ullapool, you will be rewarded with some of the most spectacular scenery in the UK. Landscapes and seascapes of unbelievable beauty are just around a corner.

Whichever ferry you take, don’t forget to look out for Dolphins and Whales, or around August watch for the fins of the Basking Sharks, these giants of the shark family only eat plankton, so it is safe to go into the water!

By Air –  Loganair, fly daily from Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Inverness.

By Sea – Caledonian Macbrayne ferries sail from Ullapool to Stornoway directly or to Tarbert in Harris from Skye and North Uist. Please note that in the summer months it is advisable to book well in advance for cars as the ferries can be very busy. Contact Caledonian MacBrayne on 0800 066 5000.
